IT WAS A *HUGE* SUCCESS AND EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME,
I WILL BE ADDING MORE TO THE PAGE EVERY DAY.
Saturday started off @ about 08:30AM, and the crowd steadily grew to over 500 at one point, and there were over 25 vendors selling their goodies.
About 25 bikes changed hands over the 2 day period.
All the T-shirts were gone, and the food was consumed at a very steady pace as well, the weather was FANTASTIC, in the high 80's, and clear skies as well.
Well where do I start?? Oh well at the "beginning", on Thursday September 24.1999, the "BOYS" from Brittain, arrived here. David Blackwell & his son Jack Blackwell (owner Monkey Bike U.K.) Clive Bailey, Barry Harvey and Tom Cole along with their friend, Masahiro Tanabe from Japan.
We had a great time doing some last minute planning for the event just 2 days later.
Of course we had problems with getting their shippment of the 1500 lb. crate that they had coming, through customs.
And with assistance from Eric Coffin & Steve Swain, it was finally delivered here Friday late afternoon.
On Friday evening we received the call that the Takegawa TEAM was here & at the hotel, but with one small problem, their show bike, was packed in 5 boxes, and all appart.
They were going to assemble it in the Hotel room, we said:
"COME ON OVER"
And so a small party turned in to a HUGE Barbeque, my wife fed over 25 people, and then on to the assembly of the bike.
Below are some GREAT pictures of the TEAM getting the bike ready for the "BIG SHOW" in my garage.
A humble surrounding, compared to their massive R&D department, back home in Japan.
Just to give you some specifications: The bike is a PROTOTYPE 114CC motor, Dual Spark Plug head, 6 Speed Transmission & Wet clutch, and to much more to mention.
